About the game:

Overwrite is a puzzle game where the player is intended to break the fourth wall and escape the game itself. Progression is achieved by making use of the game engine from within the game, allowing you to figure out, alter, and manipulate the world around you in order to move on to further levels.

This game was created as part of a college assignment, so time limits were applied. Because of this, the game did not receive as many levels as I originally hoped, however the final result still turned out well and clearly demonstrates the core idea.

The mechanics included in this project allowed me to explore Unity’s UI system in much more depth. I made use of a wide range of UI elements and learned how to effectively interact with and control each section through scripting. The final game is fairly basic overall and acted more as a testing ground for trying out a mechanic I had not attempted before, helping me expand my understanding of game mechanics.

Overall, I am very happy with the final product and what I managed to achieve within the time allotted. This project helped build my confidence with Unity’s UI system and with altering the game world through UI-driven interactions, resulting in some interesting gameplay.
